Our Resolution for 2018
It is the last year of 2017 today. Incredible how time flies. Today is a perfect time to talk about our resolutions for 2018.
2017 was a great year
2017 has been an amazing year for us. It has been our official birth year. The pregnancy period (the time to develop our concept) lasted about 11 months with the great celebration of founding Trooptravel in April 2017. Since then we have been busy programming and pivoting. Great moments for us in 2017 include:
- Founding Trooptravel in April
- Receiving first investments from Friends, Fools and Family in May
- In-person meeting of co-founders in Istanbul in June
- Launching the MVP in September
- Participating at Websummit in November
Our resolutions for 2018
2018 is an important year for us. It will show whether our concepts and ideas on how to to help (virtual) companies in improving efficiency and effectiveness of organizing in-person meetings is liked or not. Quite some pressure here on us.
Let’s look at the 4 key areas according to one of our top reads Scaling Up: How a Few Companies Make It…and Why the Rest Don’t (Rockefeller Habits 2.0) in our list of top startup books.
Our resolution for 2018 for the People component include extending our core team. Being a bootstrapped startup we do almost everything ourselves with the help of some great tools available. The moment our pivoting has come to an end, we are expecting to extend the team rapidly. We will keep you posted about our progress. In any case, we cannot recommend strong enough the books Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action and Find Your Why: A Practical Guide for Discovering Purpose for You and Your Team. They talk about the importance of hiring people who believe in what you believe. We will dedicate a blog post on this at a later stage.
We had a great strategy session with an amazing entrepreneur Steven Bleker in October 2017. Following the Rockefeller Habits, we developed a one-page strategic plan with a concrete roadmap for the upcoming months. In the first quarter of 2018 it is time to run a second strategic session to update our plan and design the next actions for 2018.
Our resolutions for 2018 on the execution side are very much linked to our strategic plan. The moment, we stopped pivoting, everything will be focusing on scaling.
The equation is very simple: with the right people, the strategy will work. The right people implementing the right strategy, the execution will work. If you have hired the right people, put the proper strategy in place, the execution will work and will generate cash. For TroopTravel our cash resolutions for 2018 is continuing our drive for strategic partnerships with clients.
2018 will be a key year for TroopTravel. What are your resolutions for 2018?
We wish you all a happy 2018!
