The Business Travel Show is a leading industry event
Last week, the Business Travel Show took place in London / UK. It is a key industry event which has been running since 24 years in a row. For two days, it brought together more than 7,500 buyers and sellers of business travel services. The show is used by many exhibitor to launch and to showcase new products, services and technologies. It helps to directly connect supply and demand of this continuously growing sector. Here is a round-up of this years show.
Part of the highlights of the Business Travel Show is the Launchpad which helps buyers to source the latest innovation in corporate travel. Between 8 to 15 startups are selected carefully every year to exhibit at the launchpad during the conference. This year, 8 startups made it to the launchpad: Amaze, Arbitrip, Flightsayer, Gaest.com, metaplanner, TroopTravel, voya and wizme.
The Business Travel Show Disrupt Award 2018
After having been accepted for the launchpad, a public voting selects the top 6 startups which can compete for the Disrupt Award. TroopTravel managed to get to the final stage. In a Dragon Den style competition, all finalists for the Disrupt Award 2018 pitched their innovation to a jury of business travel professionals. This years jury was made of:
- Nick Easen, chair judge and freelance travel writer
- Gili Lichtman, Co-Founder and VP Sales, FairFly – winner of the 2017 Business Travel Disrupt Awards
- Molly Dyson, Digital Editor, Buying Business Travel
- Andy Hoskins, Editor, The Business Travel Magazine
- Nikki Rogan, business travel buyer
- Amanda Greenwood, Community & Content Manager Business Travel iQ
Together, they voted on the contenders and selected Arbitrip as third, Flightsayer second and TroopTravel as the winner of the Business Travel Show Disrupt Award 2018.
Nick Easen, the chair judge, commented: “The disrupt award is just that, a gauge on which companies will disrupt the business travel market in the coming months and years. A lot of innovation in the travel space is about evolution not revolution, or about solutions that tinker at the edge of the market. The companies that were voted as the top three – Arbitrip (third), Flightsayer (second) and the winner TroopTravel – showed true disruptive qualities, with TroopTravel showing some real innovation that could have a profound effect on the business travel space.”
TroopTravel is extremely honored about having received this award and we are looking forward to exhibit at the Business Travel Show 2019!
